Subject: Catch up
That was good news about your downstairs neighbors moving out with all
the trouble they were. I'm sure it makes you more comfortable
staying where you are. I did watch the X-files, Julie and I are
regulars. I'm glad they stopped doing the gory shows they were
last season. They seem to have a bit more humor. Mulder
being switched into someone else's body has had some amusing twists.
The cyclic nature of college is something I both liked and dislike.
It has been interesting to communicate with you as you go through the
cycles. New classes, uncertainty about the teachers and content;
starting classes, new schedule, new people; taking classes, getting into
content, some frustration, some excitement; last few weeks of classes,
papers due, getting tired, getting bored, ready for it to end; finals,
mass studying, some worry; finals over mass relief, time to catch up on
the many things put off, rest, only getting half of the things put off
done; And then it starts all over again. I liked this because it
is all very predictable but on the other hand it can be too predictable
and become boring. In the commercial work place that I work we
also have cycles, proposal, contract, requirements gathering, design,
develop, test, install, production, support, and then start over.
A major difference is the period of duration is uncertain, variable and
always changing. Just an observation.
I'm doing OK. Julie and I still see each other about every other
day and usually talk on the phone every day. It still seems
strange to get up in the morning and go to bed at night and not have her
there. Having the cats really helps, someone to talk to and they
love attention. Julie is thinking about getting another one or two
for her for she really misses them. This weekend is Julie's
birthday and with the weather so warm we are thinking about doing a day
hike in the mountains. I really like the Christmas season with all
the decorations, lights and holidays.
Work is going well, the ATF system is supposed to go operational next
week. I'm doing requirements and high level design for the new
system.
