I'm writing early as Friday mornings are quiet in here--all other
mornings there is a teaching session going on when I arrive. I had
to spend 101.00 at the bookstore last night--ouch, and still didn't buy
one book. I'm hoping a used one will come in after finals.
Did I tell you about the car pool lottery where, if we agree to park off
campus and take the shuttle in, our names go into a weekly lottery.
Two people win each week and split 500.00. Sometimes it is split
evenly, other times for some reason it is split 300/200. I'm
hoping I win a 300 one. I've won once, 200. Not many people
participate, so repeated winners are usual. It took me a while to
get adapted to it, because I like the freedom of having my own car right
outside, and I DON'T like riding in with a van load of people with their
perfumes, coughing, etc.--but I'm bearing it with it for things like 100
purchases at the bookstore. My thought for the day to myself--"Do I envy
anyone?" How about you? Do you envy anyone? I suppose
that would require a definition of envy, but I'm not sure I have one.
As I think about it--sometimes I think I find myself envying people who
SEEM to have "more comfort" in their life at a physical level. For
example, it was really sort of stupid, but I started wishing I had a car
with electronic door locks and automatic trunk. But things like
that happen when I feel tired and am having trouble with my knee.
Oh well. Just pondering. Have a good weekend. I'm glad
you have your cats, as you said. Elizabeth
