I managed to walk again, but my motivation was a little off. I'm
glad I pushed on with it. The weather did not do what was
predicted, which was turn extremely cold and sleety. In fact, it
was not raining at all this morning. I'm not even running my apt.
heater, but fortunately (at least in terms of heat, but not so in other
areas), this winter I have a downstairs neighbor. Last winter I
did not and my apt. was SO cold. I rented videos last night, but
was kind of miffed because I had a great coupon, but it expired Monday
night. I hardly ever rent without coupons, because basically the
coupons I get fairly regularly are rent one get one free. One
movie I got and watched last night was Instinct, with Anthony Hopkins.
Have you seen it? It was not really very good, only mildly so in
that I've always been interested the studies of chimps and gorillas in
the wild, a la Jane Goodall and others. In the opening credits,
there was a statement that the story idea came roughly from the book
Ishmael. I recalled that you had listened to that on tape. I
tried afterwards to get the book, but could never find it without buying
it. I may try again. This terrorist scare is really
unfortunate. People have paid expensive prices for some of these
overseas celebrations and parties, and now, day by day, the U.S.
Government seems to be warning about participation. The other two
movies I got were Notting Hill and Election. I wouldn't have
rented the last, which is a high school movie, but I read a review which
said it had a really intelligently written script and was actually quite
good in that regard. I found it very hard to select movies, as
there didn't seem to be much I wanted to see that I hadn't seen,
although I've really been to very few movies lately. I recall
though during my last break from school I really od'd on going to the
theatre. Lucky you, at home, with no work. Did you decide to
do a headboard. One thing about walking the mall is getting ideas
from the store windows. I saw some interesting, simple furniture
in a country store. It looked like it would be easy to replicate.
Well, on to my work tasks at hand. I FINALLY got my raise thing
straightened out. For two paychecks in a row I did not get my
raise (!) and since I had anticipated it I had spent some money on books
and things, so was running short on petty cash. It will be made
retroactive, but unfortunately that means a big tax bite out of one
check, so it won't even out exactly. Elizabeth
December 22nd, my birthday was more depressing than usual which was pretty bad since I had found my birthday disappointing since childhood. Anne’s birthday is the day before mine so we I did go out to eat with her and her boyfriend one evening but that was also depressing not having Julie there and I never cared much for Anne’s boyfriend and really didn’t have much of anything to talk to him about. See my journal entry, Upcomming Birthday.
