Movies, Music, and TV

It wasn’t much of a year for me when it came to movies, TV and music. Not having a car, I didn’t have any way to get to the theater. I didn’t have a TV in my room, and Willy didn’t watch much of anything that I watched so I only watched TV when he wasn’t around.  I didn’t have my records and stereo system and not having a car I didn’t listen much to music.

Christmas

My birthday was on a Thursday, so I took off work that Thursday and Friday and flew down to Melbourne for Christmas.  It was a sad Christmas as we spent most of the time packing up everything in the house. Julie had graduated from UCF with a degree in business with a minor in computer science.  We had made arrangements for the movers to come the first week of January and Julie and Anne would drive up to Virginia after they picked up everything.  We had tried to sell the house but the market conditions were terrible and we would have had to sell it for a loss so we arranged for it to be rented.  Anne was particularly sad as she would be leaving all her high school friends behind.

In 2022 after moving back to Florida there was a box I had moved with me over the years, from Gainesville, to Indialantic, to Melbourne, to Reston Virginia and then back to Gainesville in 2018.  The box, never opened, had been stored in the garage or attic over the years.  The box itself says “Samsung MD-1254G, 12” Monochrome Display Monitor, Phosphor Color P89” which was the first monitor I bought for my IMSAI computer back in 1977 but when I returned to Melbourne to pack up our things for moving in December of 1988, I discarded the monitor and put in the box one of the light globes that Dad had given me that came from the Chemistry Department.  Around the globe I had packed with the Florida Today newspaper dated December 22, 1988, my birthday.
