Finally got a break approaching 12 and was able to download your last
notes, which I haven't read yet. I was trying to just send out a quick
"Hello" on HM and then later read and reply, but HM is really acting
up--spent my entire break trying to get a good connection.
I am really enjoying A Civil Action which I read some on last night. I
told you the wrong title for Peter Berger's book, it is The Social
Construction of Reality. The Sociology of Knowledge is the subtitle.
Without yet having read what you've written: I started work at AGH in
1977. I'm not sure what month, but it was fairly early in the year,
possibly Feb. or March. Immediately after you left, as I now recall,
someone with whom I had worked at Shands Teaching Hospital ran into me
off campus and asked me if I wanted to come back and work there. I
accepted. Ironically, as I now remember, at my six months probationary
period which ended in December (late), the dept. then decided they
didn't need extra help. So at Christmas I was without a job. I had just
bought a Chevy Blazer and that was bad news. Part of the reason I write
this is that I know I came home to Titusville either that Christmas or
soon thereafter, so I might have visited you then. I soon started
working at a "Fire Reclamation Enterprise" and in a few months got a
much better job at AGH in early 1977. I was at AGH until about August
1980 when I got accepted to UCF. At some point you came to AGH. Another
time I might have come to Melbourne was when my sister married in Nov.
1978, but I don't think I saw you then. Also, I may have come some time
after actually moving to Oveido just outside UCF.
It's 12 our time. I’ll try to read and reply when I next get a break.
Obviously I'm behind because my first morning break wasn't until just
now, when I ate my bagel. I'll have lunch at about 1:30 if you're still
working then. Tonight I have class in Domestic Relations--the teacher is
superb. A Long Hello and Good Morning, which I missed in your time zone.
I don't think I moved into your Aunt's house with you until after Feb
1976, because I checked my passports and some notes and I went to the DR
with Fred in Feb. 1976. The trip was very stressful, and I almost came
back by myself. I don't want to continue on the GW system. Hopefully HM
service will get straightened out.
This was the second time Elizabeth went to Dominican Repulic with Fred, the first time was in July of 1974, a few months after we had met and I was quite upset and confused about it but we started seeing each other again after she got back. With our shaky relationship, when she went in with Fred in ’76 I had pretty much given up on her but when she got back, she said she was done with Fred and asked if she could stay with me. I of course said yes but our relationship was never the same.
