I know what you mean about looking for something specific on the web, it
can be very frustrating. I find that once I get into a subject I
can narrow it down to a few good sites that have the information that I
am looking for but sometimes this can take hours of frustrating
searching.
I have thought about getting my pilot's license and actually came quite
close to do so. Back in my early days in Melbourne I researched it
quite thoroughly, got all the information and even got my medical exam
required for becoming licensed. I ended up buying my first house
and didn't have the money and then never pursued it again. It is
still something I occasionally still think about doing.
On the other hand I did take
scuba lessons
and got my advanced diving certificate. I was quite a serious
diver for about five years diving a couple times a month mostly in the
summers. I've dived off the beaches, done some lobstering, charter
boats all over the
West Palm area, dived throughout the Keys, several times in the
Bahamas and
many of the springs in Florida. My brother and I even stayed in a
"Underwater Hotel"
in the Keys in which you dive down to a underwater facility and stay
overnight. When I moved up to the DC area I sold all my gear (it
was mostly getting too old anyway) and have only dived a few times
since.
Diving does put a lot of stress on the body and the lungs especially so
I would think it wouldn't be such a good thing for people with Asthma.
Hiking in the mountains is always great fun. We are now planning
our yearly fall trip.
