At the end of September Mom and Dad drove up from their cabin at Fort Tatham in North Carolina and spent a few days with me. They arrived on Thursday around 5 o’clock and I had taken off from work early and was at home when they arrived. On Friday we drove down to Fredericksburg to see my cousin Sally#J31 and her daughter Sophie.  It was a nice visit, Sally’s husband Michael was out of town for business, so we spent some time visiting with Sally and Sophie at their house and had lunch with them. I had not seen Sally since the "Monster of Magnesia Springs" family  reunion back in 1998 and few of the family had seen Sophie who was dressed like a princess from some Disney movie.

On Saturday we drove to Arlington and picked Anne up her condo that she had just bought and moved into. Anne was quite proud to show it to Mom and Dad, small at 950 square feet, two small bedrooms, one bathroom, living/dinning room and a small galley kitchen. From Anne’s we crossed over the Potomac and went into Washington, DC where we walked around the Washington, Lincoln, Korean and Vietnam memorials. After a couple of hours Mom was moving real slow and said her knee was really bothering her, she had a knee replacement about a year before and it bothered her since then. Leaving the memorials we drove down to Union Station where we had lunch. After years of decline and neglect, Union Station had been totally renovated and contained a food court, restaurants and shops.

On Sunday we slept late and them went out for lunch. I had two yoga classes to teach on Sunday afternoon so while I was away Mom and Dad just hung out at my house. Monday morning we got up and had breakfast then I left for work and Mom and Dad left to return back to Fort Tatham.

Mom wrote in her 2003 trip journal:

Had a wonderful trip.  Larry was a very good host and it was nice to see where he lives and what he does.  He built a very very nice TV center (entertainment center) It was so good that one would think it was store bought.  He also built his bed (very very nice)  In all it was a good trip.
